Peppermint

6-year-old Samantha finds out on the day she and her father are moving away from their Texas farm that he has no intention of bringing along her favorite pet Peppermint. Determined to save Peppermint at any cost, she sets out on an adventure that could have dire consequences for the father-daughter relationship.

Director: Jay Hubert

Currently a graduate film student at the University of Texas, Jay Hubert spent the past seven years working in the Chinese film industry. Based in Beijing, he started out working as an assistant to top-tier Chinese cinematographer Wang Yu on numerous commercials and feature films. In recent years he directed and/or shot a number of commercials and promos for clients such as Apple, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Intel, Lenovo, and China Unicom, while also working on several Chinese feature films in various roles. In 2013 he served as Director of Photography for Volkswagen Group China’s “People’s Car Project – Building the Car Series”, a 10-episode web series awarded a Gold Lion at Cannes Lions. Hubert has also written and directed over 20 short films, several of which have screened and won awards at international film festivals. He is fluent in Mandarin and Japanese, and conversant in Cantonese and Korean.
